Bill Friesen of Flin Flon, Manitoba passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the age of 84 years.
Funeral services for Bill Friesen will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Flin Flon Alliance Church, 237 Green Street, Flin Flon, Manitoba with Pastor Reg Friesen officating. The funeral service for Bill Friesen will also be live streamed from the Flin Flon Alliance Church YouTube site.
Interment will follow at Ross Park Cemetery.
Bill was born in Melfort Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of four children. He had three older sisters Norma, Bernice and Myrna – all deceased. His family moved to Brandon after WW2. Bill attended Brandon University. He completed a science degree in chemistry and mathematics. After graduation he began working full time at Hudson Bay Mining Company. He had many interests: he enjoyed photography and had his own dark room many years ago. He was a wonderful photographer. He enjoyed sailing. He had his own boat. He loved camping and the outdoors.
He cross country skied. He fractured his leg in a skiing accident in the Rockies. He was a chaperon for many High School field trips to Europe. Since retiring he spent his winters in Florida enjoying the company of family members who reside there. He was a busy geo cacher. If you knew Bill, you had gone geo caching with him. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend. Always willing to help others. He was proud of his Mennonite Heritage and many Toews relatives. He is survived by his niece Donna Lee Brown Edmonton Alberta, his nephew Steven Burns his wife Rebecca Cocoa Beach Florida and their children Ryan Fort Lauderdale Florida, Caroline Cincinnati, Ohio and Owen Tampa Bay Florida and two cousins Lynn Ward and David Koeker Winnipeg Manitoba.
