Carol Aamot Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother Carol Ann Aamot. Carol passed away on February 22, 2022 at the age of 74. She resided in Cranberry Portage Manitoba where she has lived with her loving husband Duncan Lloyd Aamot. Carol was born on November 23, 1947 in the Pas Manitoba to Ronald Vernon and Marjorie Amelia McDuff. She was raised in the Pas and that was where she met and married her husband.

Although the new family left the area, she returned in 1989 and settled in Cranberry Portage. Known as Nana to the community, she was always a very kind and loving person.  Carol was very social and had a great sense of humor. She would take the time to lighten up everyone’s day. Our mother was the core of our family and her home was always busy. It was the place family and friends gravitated to. The coffee was always on and everyone was welcome. She loved the holidays and her favorite holiday was Christmas. It meant we would be together. She loved to craft and always made homemade ornaments for her tree. She was most proud of the ornaments she had made with the names of each of her grand and great grandchildren. You could often see her through her window spending hours completing puzzles at her kitchen table and playing crib with dad, which she loved to do. She also spoke of the fun she had playing cards with her friends, those times were important to her.  She also loved to travel throughout Canada and it was important that she made time to stop and visit family and friends along the way.

Above all else she was a wonderful grandmother. Her grandchildren meant everything to her. Nana always gave the best hugs and made the best cookies. She was a safe warm haven for each and every one of them. She will be dearly missed.

Carol is survived by her husband Duncan Aamot whom she has been with for over 60 years, children Duncan (Cheryl) Aamot (JR), Deborah (Paulette) St. Pierre and Donna (Martin) Ouellet, as well as, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition she is survived by her brothers and sisters Cathy (Jack) Halstead, Roy (Judy) McDuff, Connie (Donnie) Robinson, Chris (Barry) Stephens, Randy (Michelle) McDuff, Reg (Cindy) McDuff and Ross (Sandy) McDuff. Predeceased siblings are Richard (Vicki) McDuff, Ronald (Evie) McDuff, Robert (Sharon) McDuff and Raymond (Violet) McDuff.
