Duncan Lloyd Aamot

August 19, 1944 - May 28, 2024

Unexpectedly, at his home in Cranberry Portage , Manitoba Duncan Lloyd Aamot passed away on the 28th of May , 2024.

He was born at Flin Flon, Manitoba on the 19th of August, 1944. The eldest of five children born to Violet Lawson and Gustav Aamot. Our Dad was stationed at Chiliwack, B.C., before heading overseas during WW11 at the time of his birth. Our Mom was living with our Great Grandmother Flora Asmus in Flin Flon until Dad’s return ,when they then moved to Millwater, Manitoba.

Duncan spent his early childhood in Cranberry Portage , where he learned to hunt and fish, many a time bringing home snared rabbits and fish for us to eat,.it was something he enjoyed for most of his life, and he became am accomplished fisherman and hunter. He was also a self taught furniture maker ,an example of which was a queen sized bed that he and Carol made together ( a family heirloom I’m sure)

While working in Grand Rapids,Manitoba Duncan fell from a 80 foot scaffold , and after his hospital stay , he came to live with his grandparents in The Pas., While there he began his apprenticeship as an electrician .

On the 4th December, 1964 he married the former Carol Ann Mcduff they were married for 57 plus years . Their life together was filled with a number of moves , finally settling. back to Cranberry Portage in 1989. He was employed as a journeyman electrician in an underground mine near Flin Flon, and continued employment there until he retired at age 65.

They loved to travel especially to see their grandchildren, and enjoyed a number of summer months with them when the grandchildren were able to come for a visit.Their friends and family were also important to them and they always phoned to say we are stopping for coffee when ever they were in the vicinity.

He is survived by his children Duncan ( CheryL) Aamot Jr., Deborah ( Paulette) St Pierre, Donna ( Martin) Ouellet and their many grandchildren and great grandchildren and his sister Violet ( John) Reimer, also a number of nieces and nephews.In addition he is survived by his brothers-in law and sisters -in- law Cathy (Jack) Halstead, Roy (Judy) McDuff, Connie (Donnie) Robinson, Chris (Barry) Stephens, Randy (Michelle) McDuff, Reg (Cindy) McDuff and Ross (Sandy) McDuff.

He was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Violet, his loving wife Carol, brother Gustav, sisters Sharon and Paulette as well as Paulette’s partner Bruce Baker. Along with Carol’s siblings Richard (Vicki) McDuff, Ronald (Evie) McDuff, Robert (Sharon) McDuff and Raymond (Violet) McDuff. deceased siblings are Richard (Vicki) McDuff, Ronald (Evie) McDuff, Robert (Sharon) McDuff and Raymond (Violet) MaDuff

A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
