She also leaves with fond memories, her great grandchildren: Hannah; Tyller, Kaitlee, Halle and Paxton; Brody and Caydance; and Jorja and Grayson. The BC family of Kim and Scott, Sandy and Bill, Kelly and Lissa and their children as well as all the nieces and nephews out in Ontario; Susan (Roy); Shannon; Judy, Debbie; Robyn; and Bill (Kathy); Tammy (Jason) will remember Betty as one of the Best.Aunts.Ever.  She will also be missed by many long time friends whom she cherished.

She is predeceased by her infant son Tommy, her daughter Debbie, her parents Bill and Edna, her siblings Audrey, Maurice, Laverne, Eric and Wayne; her inlaws Tom and Mary Ramsay and brother in law Ron Ramsay and sister in law Bette Ramsay (Hunter)Goodman and Jack Goodman.

Mom and Dad, in their young marriage, travelled throughout Canada, wherever the work took George.  Daughter Debbie was born in 1954 in London ON – and after some time, it was decided to stop moving, and settle down.  Later in 1955 they made the trip to Flin Flon, where George’s family had settled and he could get steady work.

Life in Flin Flon was enhanced by Betty meeting George’s sister Bette and the two had many escapades with small children in tow.

Daughter Vicki arrived in 1957 and Steve was born in 1962. Life was active and busy for Betty in Flin Flon as she volunteered with the activities her kids were enjoying like the FF Junior Rifle club. She also was a valued member of the FF Hospital Auxiliary, The Willowpark Curling Club, The Al-Anon Group and the Flin Flon SPCA.

Her homes – first on Centre Street and then out at Big Island were welcoming places. If you met Betty as a stranger, you soon felt like a welcomed friend. Her home was her happy place, evidenced by the beautiful yard, the flowers tucked in to every little rock nook and her numerous flower pots.  Many young couples had their wedding photos taken out at their lake property – it was so beautiful. As well Betty was a very talented crafter – between her macrame, paper tole, knitting and her beautiful Christmas wreaths, she graced her home with lovely handcrafted items.

Curling at Willowpark was where you would find Betty and her teammates having plenty of laughs and shenanigans.  She also was on a team that scored an 8 Ender!  She was very proud of her 8 Ender Pin and trophy! Even later in life at the assisted living facility she participated in the Rocks and Rings program – winning trophies there!

Betty was also a great fisherman!  She out fished the men and brought many laughs to a day in the boat.  The best part of a fishing trip with Betty was her love of being outdoors and having people have as much fun as her – that’s why her boat lunches (which were packed with love) were the best – she never stopped wanting people to be fed and happy.  She won the Burbot tournament one year and had a knack for walking out to the rocks at their home and fishing and then bringing a trout up the hill for supper.

She will be long remembered for her kindness and goodness; her witty and playful sense of humor, her love of laughter and her ability to welcome you into a warm environment every time you visited her home, whether in Flin Flon or Okotoks.  LOVE was what Betty did best.

A friend nailed it with this – “Your mother inspired integrity and encouraged others to be their best too.  That’s reflected in your life.”

She will be missed for sure, and the memories of a LIFE WELL LIVED BY LOVING OTHERS, is what will sustain us.

A family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Flin Flon SPCA- it was a charity Betty served for many years.
