"Jake" Joseph André Jacques Raymond Cadorette of Snow Lake, Manitoba passed away peacefully at the Flin Flon General Hospital on July 3, 2024 at the age of 86 years.
A Celebration of Life for Jake will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Snow Lake Senior Centre, 71 Balsam St, Snow Lake, MB R0B 1M0, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Jacques Cadorette, the youngest of ten children born to Fortunat Cadorette and Josephine St. Pierre, was a man whose life was a testament to hard work and adventure. He was born on September 28, 1937, in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan, where he did his schooling before embarking on a variety of careers.
Jacques’ work life was as diverse as it was rich in experiences. Whether it was working on a local farm, in the forests of Alberta, or on the vast Pacific as a Merchant Seaman, Jacques took every opportunity to broaden his horizons. His skill as a welder, honed alongside his brother, Louis, in Edmonton, led them both to memorable projects, including working on the DEW line (Distant Early Warning System) North of the 72nd parallel on Baffin Island. Jacques also participated in the construction of the E.B. Campbell hydro dam and the first Alfalfa dehydration plant in Zenon Park.
A man with a strong sense of duty, Jacques was always ready to lend a hand, especially when it came to farming. His travels took him across Canada, from Montreal, where he helped his brother’s family move, to Snow Lake, Manitoba, where he found a long-term career with the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company, dedicating 28 years to their Mechanical Department. After his retirement in the mid 1990’s, he and his brother, Louis, got involved with breeding and raising wild boars in the Zenon Park area
In 1973, Jacques met the love of his life, Linda (Ducharne) Stoltz. Together, they created many cherished memories, traveling to Saskatchewan, Vancouver Island, and even embarking on a motorhome trip to Alaska. Their life together was marked by joy and companionship until Linda’s passing on October 14, 2007.
After Linda's passing, Jacques continued to reside in Snow Lake, where he found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with friends and family, boating, fishing, ice fishing, and tending to his garden. But his sense of adventure never diminished. In his late 70’s he took memorable trips to Prince Edward Island, where he enjoyed fresh lobster, Newfoundland and the French Islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Jacques even braved the winter roads around Brochie, North of Lynn Lake, to hunt Caribou at the age of 75.
Jacques Cadorette will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but he will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey.
Rest in peace, Jacques. Your spirit will forever be part of the prairies you loved so dearly.
A celebration of life will be held in Snow Lake at the Community Hall from 1pm until 3pm.
