Margaret Moorhead

Margaret was born on August 25, 1938 in Lachine, QC to Lawrence and Rachel Costen. She was the first of four children. The family moved to Ottawa where Margaret completed her schooling. She attended Ottawa Teachers' College where she met and fell in love with Lorne Moorhead. She went on to teach kindergarten for 2 years before she and Lorne were married on March 28, 1959.

During their almost 61 years together, Margaret and Lorne raised four children and made their home in many different places across Canada. They served as missionaries in Watson Lake, Yukon and as a pastoral couple in Sprague, MB, Flin Flon, MB and Endeavour, SK. In 2000, they returned to Flin Flon to retire.

Throughout her life, Margaret preferred not to be in the spotlight. She found fulfillment in volunteering in the community by cuddling babies at the hospital, providing child care for the Read to Me program, helping at the Food Bank, and working behind the scenes at church. She was involved in teaching Sunday school, children's ministries, Bible camps and women's groups. She had a beautiful voice and shared it by singing solos in church and performing in the Flin Flon Community Choir. She enjoyed creating beautiful things with her hands - sewing clothes for her family, including wedding dresses, crosstitching, quilting and knitting countless hats, mitts and socks, many of those donated to missions.

Margaret passed away on March 21, 2020 at Flin Flon General Hospital. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Lorne; her children, Kathy (Vic) Thiessen, Jane (Derrall) Farmer, David (Juanita), and Becky (Blayne) Hyska; her grandchildren, Janelle (Laurens), Katrina (Paul), Larissa (Tyler), Tara (Darcy), Jenna, Morgan (Steven), Zachary (Kat), Dakota (Megan), Rachel and Dylan; and her great-grandchildren, Markus, Willem, Olsen and Ezra; siblings, Barbara (Joe) Vranic, Eric (Gale) Costen and Lauren (Fred) Liebscher; brothers-in-law Lloyd Moorhead and Ernie (Shirley) Moorhead; sister-in-law Leah Moorhead; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Rachel Costen.
