Maxwell Owen Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our Dad, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather Max Owen of Melfort, SK who passed away in a car accident on December 3rd at the age of 78.

Max is survived by his son Dean (wife Natalie and children Coleman, Kennedy and Claire), daughter Pam (husband Mark), grand daughter Mallory and her husband Derrick and daughter Addisen, grand daughter Sydnie and her husband Zac and children Knox, Fynn and Annie, daughter Petrina (partner James and son Kieran and Karsen).

Max is survived by his sister Denise and brother Steve (Sue) both in England. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws both in England and in Canada.

Max was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Shirley, in 2018. He was also predeceased by his father Edward, mother Audrey and brothers Jeff, Doug and Nick.

Max was born in Devon, England on October 6, 1946 to Edward and Audrey Owen. He moved to Canada when he was 9 and lived in Renwer, MB. He met the love of his life Shirley and the two moved to Creighton, SK. There, he worked at HBM&S for 43 years while raising 3 children. While doing so, Max never missed a hockey tournament, ball tournament or skating competition regardless of the weather or travel distance. He even made the commitment to drive Petrina to cheerleader practice every weekend traveling from Creighton to Regina. This was probably fuelled by his passionate love for the Roughriders.

Too busy with work was never in Max and Shirley's thoughts. There was never a birthday, graduation, wedding, reunion or sporting event that involved family that they ever missed. When someone came to visit them in Creighton, there was always time to go fishing at Beaver Lake. The two had a passion for family time, friendship time and even holiday time when they would go to Hawaii - always with family alongside.

It is hard to encapsulate a life that has touched so many other people - siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends. Max treasured his time with family as evidenced by his recent trip to England to bring everyone together and his time with friends, evidenced by his love for coffee time at Di's and in Melfort.

A celebration of life will be held for Maxwell on Saturday, May 24th at 1:00 p.m at the Creighton Community Hall. All family and friends are welcome to join
