Michael (Mike) Lloyd Botten, 73, of Snow Lake, passed away on June 13, 2023 peacefully in his sleep.
Mike was born on October 4, 1949 to Emma and Alfred R. Botten in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After high school, he went on to study Meteorology starting his career with environment Canada as Weatherman. In 1980 after looking for a change he moved with the family to Snow Lake, and went back to school to become an instrumentation mechanic.
In his early years he was a guy with the passion for trying new things, getting his Pilots licence, learning cooking skills from a chef. In his later years he loved to spend time on the water, fishing or event just being a tour guide. He loved woodworking and made many heirloom items for family and friends.
In 1972, he was married to Sylvia and went on to have 2 children: Stephanie and Michael. In 2000 he was remarried to Janet Botten.
In 2014, Mike retired from HBMS and spent his time growing small vegetables and woodworking.
Michael was predeceased by his parents and his only sibling his sister Randi. He is survived by Stephanie (Shaun) Jeffrey and their children Kelsey, Bryson, Allyssa, Rylan and Cameron and his son Michael (Katelynn) Botten and their children: Astrid, Kylee, Terek and Lakelyn.
A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Reed Lake Campground.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the The Pas and Area Animal Shelter in The Pas, an organization Mike felt strongly about.
