It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Leel, a beloved grandfather, father, husband, and friend. After a lifetime of dedication, he passed away peacefully on January 15 in Saskatoon, SK. Born and raised in Flin Flon, MB in 1944, Norm worked for Manitoba Telephone System for 42.5 years. Most of the years were spent in northern Manitoba - driving and flying into remote communities, always ready to lend a hand. His passion for the outdoors was unparalleled – he loved camping, hunting, and cherished his fishing trips with his wife, Eileen. They spent many evenings fishing the Sturgeon Weir River for walleye. His devotion to his dogs was a constant in his life, with each one holding a special place in his heart. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Norm was predeceased by his wife Eileen (2021) and grandson Shane Johnson (2020). He leaves behind his daughters Angie Johnson (Merv) and Janna Leel; grandsons Austin Johnson (Natalie) and Brian Borisko; great-grandsons Nohl and Asch Johnson.
Mourning Glory Funeral Services in Saskatoon have been entrusted with arrangements. The family will hold a private service later in the year.
