Obituary

Rose Hutlet of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on January 3, 2023 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her loving husband Emile (Mel) in 2017, as well as her parents, Elizabeth and Aristide Godin, and her siblings, Therese Morissette, Joseph Godin, Henri Godin, and Arthur Godin. She leaves behind to grieve: her sisters, Helene Picton and Augusta Nelson; her children, Rick (Del) Hutlet, Wayne Hutlet, and Michelle Richard; her grandchildren, Jon (Angela), Nikki (Kevin), Aimee (Donnie), Kristy (Rob), and Madison; her great grandchildren Fynn, Sadie, Miley, Mindy, Sierra, Jordan, Jesse, and her great-great grandchild, Liam; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Rose was born in Fannystelle, Manitoba, and married Mel in 1954. Together, they had three children and raised them in Flin Flon, Manitoba, where they lived for many years. Rose and Mel were active community members involved in various organizations. The loving couple worked together for over forty years, running their uptown clothing store, Ross’ Style Shop. At Shady Pines in Denare Beach, Saskatchewan, Rose and Mel entertained and enjoyed the company of family and friends. In 1993, they packed up and moved to Red Deer, Alberta and spent many years enjoying Radium Hot Springs and other camping locations. In 2010, Rose and Mel moved to Winnipeg to be closer to family.

Rose will be lovingly remembered for her bright laugh, love of cards, delicious tourtiere, and sharp fashion sense. She was always well put together - hair, nails, and wardrobe - whether she was heading to work or a social engagement, or preparing for the regular Sunday family dinners at the house on Kingsway Blvd. She loved travelling, especially to Jamaica and other hot destinations. Rose was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church until her age and health made it difficult to attend mass.

The family would like to thank all those that made Rose’s life comfortable in this past year. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

A private celebration of life will take place in summer 2023.
