ROSS GAMMON HILLIER
October 20, 1930 - January 18, 2026
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, Ross Gammon Hillier, aged 95, went to meet his Lord and Saviour. He passed away peacefully at the Flin Flon Personal Care Home with his wife of 70 years, Alice, and his daughter Julie by his side.
Ross is predeceased by his parents John (Jack) & Dorothy; his siblings Cam, Jack, Dorothy, Kelly and Shirley Ramage; & his son John.
Ross is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife Alice; brothers Reg (Ollie), Robert (Bernadette); daughters Sheila, Julie (Ray) Tardiff; son Stuart (Lori); grandchildren Carla Kirkpatrick, Calvin Kirkpatrick (Chantel), Dustin Tardiff, Jason Tardiff (Heather), Stephanie Klassen, Nicole Hillier/Thorpe (Adam) & Jeremiah; great-grandchildren Soren, Xavier, Leo, Ava, Mia, Max, Taylor & many nephews & nieces.
Ross was born and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba. At 18, he began as a mechanic apprentice for HBM&S and remained there until his retirement. Following that, he worked for Scorpio Bearing before leaving the work force completely. Ross loved the outdoors and would often venture out on his own. He was very familiar with the bush and lakes and could be seen in his canoe, boat, snowmobile or quad, whether he was out fishing, hunting moose, duck or wood grouse or gathering wood. He loved to travel around in his trusty camper, making trips to the Yukon and Alaska, numerous trips to Delburne, Alberta and from Vancouver Island to the Maritimes. He also went to Hawaii and traveled to Israel twice. He was an avid curler. He was always ready to give a helping hand, always busy and showed his love for family with all that he did from shining shoes to building homes and decks and so much more. We will cherish the memories of him.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
