Sylvia was born in The Pas, Mb. To Joe and Mary Laronde, she was their only child with an adopted sister Wanda Laronde. Sylvias’ father worked for CN Rail where they would live where his job would take him. They lived in Sherridon, The Pas and Wanless, Mb. Sylvia had four children Angela, Monica, Darryl and Trina in her first marriage prior to meeting her true love James Cook and having four more children Joel, Amelia, Wilfred and Melodie. They lived and raised their children in Sherridon,Mb. Sylvia and James married in 98’ in The Pas. Sylvia and James lived in Cranberry Portage until James passed in 2013. Sylvia resided in Thompson, Mb with her son Wilfred wife Jenine and grandchildren. After she moved back home to Sherridon to live near her daughter Melodie and her children. Sylvia was proud of her son Joel for being a hardworking man and for upkeeping his late fathers’ trap line in Fay Lake. Sylvia enjoyed the outdoors berry picking, camping, gardening. She was known as the ‘blueberry lady’ in Cranberry Portage always taking a whole crew with her they would pick many blueberries. Sylvia loved sewing and beading taught from her own friend Bertha Ducharme, she would make beautiful moccasin slippers. Sylvia passed this talent down to her children Wilfred and Melodie. Sylvia loved to bake and cook, she really enjoyed teaching her grandchildren. Sylvia loved having company, if she knew you were coming, she would have something cooked and the tea would be on, stories would come out. Sylvia was a beautiful, kind hearted woman. A real angel that we all will miss although kept in our hearts and memories forever. Heaven received an Angel back.
