Tony was born May 24, 1965, to Michael and Helen Collier, in St. John’s Newfoundland.
Tony lived out the first of his childhood years in the quaint community of St. Alban’s Bay d’Espoir, Newfoundland. In 1977, his family moved to the welcoming Northern town of Flin Flon, Manitoba. Tony had quickly adapted and developed, within the very first week of being in Flin Flon, these beautiful and meaningful, lifelong friendships. Oh how he adored his friends. These past few years he often spoke of his friendships with such fondness and love. The visits and check-ins meant so much more to him than they’ll ever know. Tony truly cherished his time spent with each and every one them.
If you knew Tony, you knew of his big ol’ heart. So full of love, kindness, empathy and compassion. After high school and university, Tony began his young adult life employed as a Residential Support Worker for the Shalom Residencies Inc. Tony then later worked as a Career and Employment Consultant for the Saskatchewan Government. Both of these positions were to serve, guide and help those in need; which was so fitting as to who he was, as a person.
Tony was a solid constant in his nieces and nephews’ lives and was so proud of them all…and so very good to them. Tony would be sure to check-in on them every once in a while and when they visited from out of town, there was always an element of surprise at Uncle Tony’s. He would plan days in advance to set the scene for a treasure hunt and would schedule movie days and stocked up with all of their favourite treats. Tony was just so thoughtful and kind. …and for him to see their happiness was his happiness. Spending time with his nieces and nephews fulfilled him, he lived for it...and it too was reciprocated. It truly was a gift for those kids to have known him.
Tony enjoyed a good concert, and had the best record, 8 track, and cassette collection going while growing up. Tony’s early love of music, faith, friends, family and animals, carried on throughout his lifetime. ...and he had one of the luckiest dogs. Diesel was his absolute world! ...and rest assured that in Michelle’s care, Diesel will be so loved and honoured.
So long for now dear Son, Brother, Uncle and friend. You are so very loved and missed. xo
