Wilbert John Lautamus was born November 26th, 1931 to John Lautamus and Lillian Junnilla in the New Finland area of southern Saskatchewan on his grandmother's farm. Even with his moves to Beardmore, Ontario and Flin Flon, Manitoba by the age of 12 years, he spent many happy summers on the farm in Saskatchewan. Riding horses was one of his favourite activities in his youth and eventually he focused on car repair. Upon completing high school at Hapnot Collegiate, he worked at HudBay until his retirement from his security guard position in 1987. In the early 1950's he had joined the militia in this area and spent time in its service until 1971. Following that he became an AA member and focused on his family, work, and maintained his Legion membership. Through the years he loved holidays with his family, swimming in lakes and at the mineral spas in SK. and AB. Wilbert's wit, generosity, and sociability endeared him to family, coworkers, and caregivers. He joins his son, Tom, in heaven, and leaves to mourn in his absence here on earth his wife, Linda (Hood) Lautamus of 63 years; daughters, Lori (Murray) Lawrence, June (Keith) Reed, Robyn (Paul) Garrett; grandchildren, Matthew (Chantel) Lawrence, Joshua (Melanie) Lawrence, Sara (Dan) Pawlachuk, Mari Lawrence, Kenton (Catherine) Reed, Rhiannon (Dave) Wong, Zachery Garrett; great grandchildren, Elliott Reed, Zelda Reed, Matilda Reed, Piper Pawlachuk, Jacob Pawlachuk, James Wilbert Lawrence, and Mordecai Wong.
