Yvonne Anne Fawcett (nee Dubeski)
July 1, 1945 – July 20, 2025
Just a few days after celebrating her 80th birthday Yvonne Anne Fawcett passed away in Edmonton, AB. She was surrounded by her family and an incredible sense of peace and love.
Yvonne was born on July 1, 1945 in Flin Flon, MB. She was a source of immense joy and pride for her parents Nickolas (RCAF) and Eleanor (RAF) Dubeski who met in England during WWII. Yvonne was an only child but was raised with her childhood friends on Bracken Street and numerous cousins.
Yvonne graduated from Hapnot Collegiate and left Flin Flon briefly to attend secretarial school at Red River Community College. It was during this time that she met and married the love of her life, Dale Fawcett. Dale and Yvonne were married for 56 years before being separated for a brief time due to Dale’s passing on July 22, 2021.
According to Yvonne their greatest accomplishment in life was raising their two daughters Diane and Tanis and spending a great deal of summers and special times with their grandsons Taylor and Alex. The dearest of all family memories includes the times spent at the family cabin in Denare Beach, SK.
In the early days Yvonne stayed home to raise the girls, returning to work at Hapnot Collegiate when they became teens. She was employed as an executive secretary in the Library and Career Center at Hapnot Collegiate for several years and finished her career retiring from Many Faces Education Center. Throughout her life and her career, her cheerleading and steadfast love, guidance and support for her students and those she loved never wavered.
Yvonne and Dale spent countless hours volunteering time and resources to the causes they believed in: Safe Grad, Dinner Theater, Triple C, Christmas Ice Candles, and the Anglican Church. There isn’t a person in Flin Flon who doesn’t remember “Mrs. Fawcett”.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Eleanor Dubeski, her loving husband Dale, Dale’s sister Maxine and her husband Stuart Sharpe, Dale’s brother Byrt and his wife Bonnie Fawcett, sister in law Sheila Fawcett and nephews Michael and Kyle Fawcett.
Left to remember and celebrate Yvonne’s life are her two daughters Diane Fawcett and Tanis Alvarez, grandsons Taylor and Alex Alvarez and special “kid” Chris Dojcak (April, Brody, and Hudson), Dale’s oldest brother John Fawcett, and younger brothers Barry (Jan) Fawcett, and Robin (Elaine) Fawcett, along with their children and families.
Yvonne will be dearly missed by her amazing circle of friends (many lifelong) both in Spruce Grove, AB and Flin Flon, MB.
Yvonne’s roots are strong and deep in Flin Flon. She will be “Going Home” to rest in eternal peace with Dale, he has been waiting for her.
A Celebration of Life for Yvonne Fawcett will be held at a later date.
